CAMP partnered with Unicef, Hyderabad Field Office to facilitiate this Participatory Video process in Sanga Reddy district, Andhra Pradesh.
A total of 20 high school boys and girls from traditionally marginalised sections of Medak district in Andhra Pradesh were identified for CAMP. The Department of Communication in partnership with Unicef, Hyderabad Field Office & the BCC Cell, Medak District Collectorate was involved in a participatory video production process spread over a period of nine months.
The focus is on basic issues such as child protection, health, nutrition, education, life skills, water and sanitation besides ensuring children’s participation in decision-making processes at the village level.
A set of six video camera units are housed at the Behaviourial Change Communication Cell (BCC Cell) of Medak district are accessible to the participating children.
Besides providing access to media technologies so that children can continue to express themselves through video, this capacity sharing process led to telecast of the films produced by the participating children. A set of 15 films were also screened at the International Film Festival organised by the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) at Hyderabad.
